[Music]
Huckabee: I'm Mike Huckabee and
I approve this message because Iowans have a right to know the truth about
Mitt Romney's dishonest attacks on me and even an American hero, John McCain.
Male Announcer: Romney's record. Over 700 million in new taxes. No executions. Supported gun control. And Romney's government mandated health care provided a $50 co-pay for abortion. Huckabee: If a man’s dishonest to obtain a job, he’ll be dishonest on the job. Iowans deserve better. |
Notes: Former Gov. Huckabee held a press conference
on January 1 in Des Moines at which he announced he had decided not to
run this ad. However, stating that he needed prove that the campaign
had indeed produced the ad, he then showed it to the room full of reporters..
This prompted reactions ranging from disbelief to derision among the reporters.
The ad did run a few times. According to FactCheck.org, "The ad ran
at least 10 times on four different stations in Davenport and Cedar Rapids,
Iowa. The Huckabee campaign called those airings a mistake."
These few airings were incidental compared to the widespread coverage the
press conference and ad garnered. For example, KCCI Channel 8, the
local CBS affiliate, led its 5:00 o'clock newscast with a report that ran
for about 1 min. 50 seconds.
