Bayh Statement on Creation of Exploratory Committee

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Evan Bayh today released the following statement after the filing of papers with the Federal Election Commission to create a presidential exploratory committee. The committee is named Friends of Evan Bayh.

“Today, I filed papers with the Federal Election Commission to create a Presidential Exploratory Committee to allow me to continue the process of making a final decision about a Presidential campaign. As I have said previously, I will talk to my family over the holidays and make a final decision and an announcement after the first of the year.

As the recent election results demonstrated, the American people are frustrated with business as usual in the nation’s capital. They know that Washington is not doing what it takes to meet the challenges of our time.

We are in danger of becoming the first generation in American history to pass onto our children a nation that is less secure, less prosperous, and less just. My decision will be based on how I can best help America get back on the path to greatness.”
