Joe Biden Biographical Notes

Democracy in Action: What is your first political memory, something from when you were a wee lad?

Joe Biden: My first political memory was I was a young guy in Scranton, Pennsylvania visiting my grandfather and watching Harry Truman go by in an open car to speak at the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick's Day Dinner in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Democracy in Action:  How old would you have been then roughly?

Joe Biden:  Thirteen I think, roughly.

And the reason I remember the scene, it was somebody from Scranton sent me a picture of Truman going by with me in the background that appeared in the Scranton Scrantonian newspaper.
