Rogers Endorses Governor Mitt Romney for President

WASHINGTON, DC.--U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) offered the following statement today in support of Mitt Romney's candidacy for the President in 2008.

"I first met Mitt Romney when he was running the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.  In addition to overseeing all the thousands of details that came with the job, he proved homeland security could work in America.  He took charge of one of the nation's largest security mobilization efforts just months after September 11th.

As Governor of Massachusetts, he based his agenda on proven conservative principles: smaller government, lower taxes, defending the traditional family, and keeping our citizens safe and secure.

We are in a difficult moment in our Nation's history, but one that also holds great promise to improve our country for years to come.  We need a President who can lead the way forward and protect our Nation's gains on homeland security and the war on terrorism.  We need a president who continues the great conservative traditions in this era of brutal global competitiveness - focusing on top priorities of growing the economy, expanding health insurance and improving education.

He is the right man for the job - a President who will make America stronger on all fronts."
