Campaign for America's Future's "Take Back America" Conference, June 1-3, 2005
June 1, 2005 -- Many attendees of the conference, perhaps two-thirds or more judging from a show of hands, were members of MoveOn.org.  MoveOn.org held a meet and greet during which executive director Eli Pariser (in white shirt) and other MoveOn staffers met with members in informal focus groups.

Earlier, addressing a plenary session titled "Building a New Majority," Pariser identified two roadblocks facing progressives.  First, he said, the Democratic Party has developed a "compromising taste for big donors" and has "lost touch with its constituents."  It needed the "courage to kick the corporate cash habit" and embark on a small donor revolution.  Second, the party has "devolved into issue ghettos" wherein a kind of "check box politics" is practiced.  A result is politicians with "the right positions but not the right principles," Pariser said.
