Dear Governor Dean:

Thank you your letter of November 10, 2005 to Mayor Bloomberg.  I am writing to confirm that the City of New York intends to submit a bid to host the 2008 Democratic National Convention pursuant to the Summary of Preliminary Requirements and the expected Request for Proposals, provided that you permit the City to bid on the Republican Convention as well.

As you know, New York has an unparalleled ability to host large-scale events.  In its bid to host the 2004 Democratic National Convention, the City promised to host a convention with unmatched excitement and superior organization.  I am confident you will see the same commitment in the City's bid for 2008.

Sincerely,

Daniel L. Doctoroff
