MEDIA ADVISORY: KATIE COURIC LEADS CBS NEWS' BROADCAST AND ONLINE COVERAGE OF TOMORROW'S VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
Katie Couric will lead CBS News' live broadcast and online coverage of the vice presidential debate tomorrow (2) from the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.  CBS News' primetime coverage and analysis of the debate (9:00-11:00 PM, ET) will be immediately followed by a live, Web-exclusive special anchored by Couric on CBSNews.com and CNET.com beginning at approximately 11:00 PM, ET.  She has done so after each day of the national political conventions and the first presidential debate last week.

Couric will anchor the CBS EVENING NEWS from St. Louis tomorrow, while Maggie Rodriguez will do the same for THE EARLY SHOW tomorrow and Friday (3).

Joining Couric on the primetime broadcast and the Webcast will be Chief Washington Correspondent and FACE THE NATION Anchor Bob Schieffer, in St. Louis; Senior Political Correspondent Jeff Greenfield, at CBS News headquarters in New York; National Correspondent Byron Pitts, who will provide live reaction from uncommitted voters in Las Vegas; and CBS News Correspondents Chip Reid, covering the McCain campaign, and Dean Reynolds, on the Obama campaign.  CBS News Political Analysts Dan Bartlett and Dee Dee Myers will contribute, as well.

CBS News is again working with Knowledge Networks to provide a real-time poll of voters, measuring debate viewers' reactions to the debate.  Knowledge Networks asks members of KnowledgePanel®--the only online panel derived from a statistically valid sample of the U.S. population-for their views both before and after the event.  CBS News Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson will provide live reports on the poll data for the broadcast and Webcast.

The Webcast, anchored by Couric and seen exclusively on CBSNews.com and CNET.com, will last approximately 30 minutes and feature Molly Wood, host of CNET's "Buzz Report," who will be live tracking blogs and Twitter for online reaction and feedback, and Vaughn Ververs, CBS News.com Senior Political Editor.  In addition, the Webcast will include interviews, real-time reaction from uncommitted voters and extended analysis from the CBS News political team, as well as responses to viewer questions submitted online. The Webcast will remain available for on-demand viewing at CBSNews.com, CNETTV.com and CBS Mobile News and will be distributed to CBS Audience Network partners and fed to CBS Radio News affiliates for insertion into their own programming or for podcasting.
