Topeka, KS — Saturday, the Kansas Republican State Committee passed a presidential caucus plan that will put Kansas in the middle of the Republican Presidential nomination battle. According to the plan passed by the state committee, Kansas will have a presidential caucus on Saturday, February 9, 2008.

“I am excited about the opportunity to give Kansans a real voice in the battle for the Republican Presidential nomination,” said Kansas State Republican Party Chairman Kris Kobach. “It has been nearly twenty years since Kansas has held a GOP Presidential Caucus. The caucus is a positive solution allowing Republicans from across the state the opportunity to participate in the process.”

The plan requires that a presidential candidate win two of the four Congressional Districts in order to receive the support of twenty-four of Kansas' thirty-nine delegates.

The plan passed Saturday also detailed the National Delegate Selection Plan that includes a self-nomination procedure for Kansas Republicans interested in attending the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Self-nomination forms will be available from party headquarters on December 1, 2007 for all Republicans who are interested in the opportunity to attend the 2008 Republican National Convention.
