LANSING, MI – The Ron Paul Campaign praised today's Michigan Supreme Court ruling that removed a major obstacle blocking the state from holding presidential candidate primaries. Two lower courts previously held that plans to hold an open state-wide primary would have to be approved by the legislature, likely forcing a closed caucus nomination process. The State GOP remains hopeful that a primary will be held January 15th.
"The Ron Paul campaign is excited by the strengthened prospects for
an early Michigan primary," said campaign chairman Lew Moore. "A primary
format would allow our campaign to best capitalize on Dr. Paul's strong
grassroots across the state."
