Started Breaux-Lott Leadership Group, a lobbying firm, in Jan. 2008.  Considered run for governor of Louisiana but ruled that out in April 2007.  Joined Patton Boggs LLP as senior counsel in Jan. 2005 and continued there through latter part of 2007.  Elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, re-elected in 1992 and 1998; retired in 2004.  Elected to the U.S. House in Sept. 1972 special election, served to Jan. 3, 1987.  Assistant to U.S. Rep. Edwin W. Edwards 1968-72.  Graduate of University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette, 1964; graduate of Louisiana State University Law School, Baton Rouge, 1967.
