(R-SC), chair of the Senate Steering Committee, a caucus of
conservative senators, argued that "freedom solutions will work...in
all areas." "We're not letting freedom work," DeMint said.
He said the economic crisis is due to the government and political
greed. "Stupid government policies have destroyed the
accountability of the free market," DeMint said. "The government
is not the answer to our problems, the government is the problem," he
said. DeMint described President Obama as "the world's best
salesman of socialism." He has a book, Saving Freedom, due
out on July 4.
