Certifies Delegates
Columbia, SC- South Carolina Democratic
Party officials certified a list of 54
delegates and seven alternates
to 2008 Democratic National Convention with the Democratic National
Committee this week.
More than 1,600 South Carolina Democrats elected 46 delegates during
the 2008 South Carolina Democratic Party Convention on May 3 in
Columbia. These delegates, along with the state's eight automatic
delegates, will have a role in selecting the Party's presidential
nominee during the national convention being held Aug. 25 - 28 in
Denver.
SCDP officials say the newly-elected delegates are excited about this
year's national convention.
"Our delegation can't wait to go to Denver. They've worked very hard to
get to this point and know that this year's national convention will be
a historic occasion. They may ultimately decide which of our two great
presidential candidates will face John McCain in November," said South
Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler.
