Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) delivered a heartfelt plea for peace in his speech. He movingly described a trip he and his wife Elizabeth took to the village of Qana, Lebanon in summer 2006 after a bomb had been dropped on an apartment building there. "We want peace," the villagers told him. "I promised the people of Qana that I would bring the message from Qana back to America, and today I'm keeping that promise," Kucinich said. |
Kucinich recognized his wife Elizabeth several times during his speech. |
