NEVADA Saturday night in Nevada, Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald announced his endorsement of Chris Dodd for President, citing his experience and his record helping law enforcement and other public safety workers throughout his 26 years in the Senate. In his last election, Fitzgerald won all of the precincts in Story County, a feat no other elected official has accomplished there. Fitzgerald and Dodd toured the Story County Justice Center with the members of the Story County Board of Supervisors before attending an event together afterward.

"He's been there for public safety workers across the board - fire, medical, and law enforcement.  It is really impressive, said Fitzgerald, citing Dodds long record helping public safety workers get the funding and training they need. Earlier this year, Dodd was endorsed by the International Association of Fire Fighters. "We're looking at what issues are important - somebody there that we can count on.  He's not an individual who will come at one moment to help us and then be gone."

"Senator Chris Dodd has been there for law enforcement his entire 26 years in the Senate, and that's why I want to stand behind him. I think the one person who's going to be the next President of the United States, and the person who is most capable for standing up and taking over the office of the Presidency of the United States, is Senator Chris Dodd, Fitzgerald explained.

Im honored to have Pauls support. He knows a thing or two about winning, and Im grateful to have his counsel and his help on my campaign, Dodd said. "He is a highly respected public servant in Story County and very active within the community. His support carries with it great weight in his community and throughout the state of Iowa. He will be a tremendous asset to the campaign.

A former member of the Waterloo Police Department, Fitzgerald is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and is active in the 4-H club in Story County.
