State Chair Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs
(announced Oct. 10, 2007)  Combs was elected Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts in Nov.2006.  She previously served as Agriculture Commissioner, elected in 1998 and 2002.  Served as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas, where she handled child abuse cases.  Graduated from Vassar College and received her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law.  A native of San Antonio, she currently lives in Austin.
 
 
Vice Chair Railroad Commission Chairman Michael Williams 
(announced Oct. 18, 2007), Appointed to the Texas Railroad Commission in 1998 to fill a vacant seat, elected to complete the term in 2000 and re-elected to a six-year term in 2002.  He is the first African American in Texas history to hold an executive statewide elected post.  Prior to his appointment to the Commission, Williams served as general counsel to a Texas-based high-tech corporation and he is a former attorney at Haynes and Boone, L.L.P. He also served as the General Counsel of the Republican Party of Texas.  Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Law Enforcement at the U.S. Department of the Treasury under President George H. W. Bush. He served as Special Assistant to Attorney General Richard Thornburgh in President Ronald Reagan’s Justice Department.  Bachelor, master’s and law degrees from the University of Southern California.
