October 19, 2007--Critics of the Religious Right watched the Washington
Briefing 2007: Values Voter Summit closely. Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive
director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said in
a statement that, "Their goal is simple: to consolidate their power within
the GOP and elect a president who is in their pocket." [full press

charged organizers were "flexing their political muscles and getting GOP
candidates to pledge loyalty to the far-right's agenda." Massachusetts-based
