Decision Time for Values Voters
October 19-21, 2007 Summit Draws All Major Republican Candidates ...Next >
October 20, 2007--Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) told the Washington Briefing 2007: Values Voter Summit, "I come today as one not who comes to you, but as one who comes from you."  "You are my roots," he said.  He received an enthusiastic response, including, according to his campaign, 11 standing ovations.
Madeline Crabb (above), a minister, teacher, author and columnist from Bloomington, IN sat right in front throughout the conference, diligently taking notes.  She lauded Huckabee, saying he has "all of the values."  "He's not playing to the crowd; he's not pandering," she said.  Crabb said that "voting for a third party candidate is not an option."  Of Rudy Giuliani she said, "He's a wonderful guy and he probably could be a good president."  She described Mitt Romney as "too slick."  Chris Moulton, a recently graduated home schooler from Greene, NY, said he came to the conference "totally undecided."  He praised Huckabee as "very conservative and down to earth."  Moulton said he admired Giuliani's leadership, but had concerns about his personal life and his pro-choice positions.  He described Romney as "too much of a cardboard cutout."  Linda Bohnen from Sonora, CA said she is "really excited" by Huckabee's candidacy, and compared it to David and Goliath.
Huckabee held a media availability after his speech.
