Mike Huckabee endorsed by Texas State Senator Dan Patrick

Little Rock, AR -- Former Arkansas Governor and Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee has been endorsed by Texas State Senator Dan Patrick, who is also a popular radio talk show host in Houston and a well-known conservative Republican.

"I'm proud to have the endorsement of Dan Patrick. His record in the Texas Senate and lowering property taxes is known far beyond the borders of the Lone Star State ," Huckabee said. "As a popular talk-radio host, Dan has used the airwaves to advance his Christian values while advocating for a more principled government, lower property taxes, and improved border security."

Patrick, who worked for CBS affiliate KHOU-TV, before starting a career in talk radio at KSEV-AM in Houston , has been very active for conservative causes.

"I have gotten to know Governor Huckabee over the past several months. I have been impressed with his honesty, work ethic and determination to fight for conservative principles," Patrick said. As a committed Christian, I appreciate and respect his unabashed commitment to put God first in everything he does. His stance on pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-family issues are important to Texas . His understanding that the border must be secured immediately, and that the issue of illegal immigration must be resolved now, is one that resonates with all of us who believe this is the most important issue we face today. I'm proud to endorse Governor Mike Huckabee."

Patrick wrote a Christian bestseller, The Second Most Important Book You Will Ever Read, in 2002. The next year Patrick formed a 20,000-member organization called CLOUT (Citizen's Lowering Our Unfair Taxes) that worked to lower property taxes.

In 2006, Patrick was elected to the Texas State Senate with an overwhelming 69 percent majority.  During the 80th Legislative Session, he succeeded in permanently placing the creed, "In God We Trust" over the Senate chamber, pushing open government legislation, forcing votes on lowered appraisal caps and pushing bills that empower local law enforcement to stem the tide of illegal immigration.

As a result of his success, Patrick received Texas District and County Attorneys Association's Freshman of the Year Award and was recognized by Texas Eagle Forum, the Texas Association of Business as well as the American's for Prosperity for his conservative leadership.
