Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee Announces the Formation of Legislators for Huckabee Advisory Committee in Iowa

Des Moines, IA – The presidential campaign of former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) announced today the formation of the Legislators for Huckabee Advisory Committee. The committee will be co-chaired by three respected members of the Iowa General Assembly.

State Sen. David Hartsuch, R-Bettendorf, will be joined by state Reps. Carmine Boal, R-Ankeny, and Dwayne Alons, R-Hull, as the co-chairs of the Legislators for Huckabee Advisory Committee. The committee will work to recruit other state legislators to support Governor Huckabee for president as well as advise the governor on Iowa specific issues and important legislation at the state level.

“I won my contest against an 18-year incumbent by 71 votes because I worked hard and I recognized the importance of working hard for every single vote.  Mike Huckabee shares that approach to winning elections.  His record of election success in a Democratic state, the fact he has more executive experience than any other candidate in the race and his accomplishments in the areas of education, health care, infrastructure and tax reduction have convinced me that he has what it takes to succeed here in Iowa and in next year’s general election,” Hartsuch said.

“It is my pleasure and honor to offer my endorsement and support to Governor Mike Huckabee. His executive experience, principled leadership and conservative values are exactly what this country is looking for in its next president. I am excited to be part of his campaign,” said Boal.

“Governor Huckabee is a leader of the highest caliber. His 10 ½ years as Governor of Arkansas were a textbook example of good governance. Governor Huckabee has a long and balanced record of fiscal responsibility and social conservatism that will serve him well as the President of the United States,” Alons said.

Huckabee said he is "honored to have received the support of these wonderful individuals."

"Their commitment to our shared values and beliefs and their commitment to their constituents and the state of Iowa have earned them all strong, well-deserved reputations of being pro-life, pro-family, and pro-taxpayer throughout the state. I look forward to working with them in the coming months and utilizing their expertise as I prepare for the Iowa caucuses,” he added.

After his strong second place finish at the Iowa Straw Poll on Aug. 11, Huckabee’s poll numbers have risen to 14 percent in Iowa and he recently won the Values Voters Straw Poll with 63 percent of the vote.
