>Former Gov. Tommy Thompson visited Iowa on August 9-11, 2007.
On August 9 he participated in a Medical Round Table Luncheon with Dr. Anders Milton at The Embassy Club in Des Moines; appeared on The Steve Deace Show from the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines; and did a meet and greet at the Best Western in Ames.
On August 10 he attended the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines including doing the Des Moines Register Soapbox and participating in Divided We Fail's Republican Presidential Candidate Conversation; attended a Marshall County fundraiser at the Marshall County Sheriff's Office in Marshalltown; and in the evening rallied supporters at a Party with Tommy outside Olde Main Brewery in Ames.
On August 11 he did a motorcycle ride from Metro North II Business Park in Ankeny to Ames; and participated in the Iowa Republican Straw Poll on the Iowa State University campus in Ames.  Thompson finished sixth (1,039 votes, 7.3 %), and announced his withdrawal.

Thompson is scheduled to kick off his "Common Sense Solutions Tour" at Prairie Moon Winery in Ames, Iowa on the evening of July 6, 2007.Thompson did not make it to this initial event due to plane difficulties in Denver, Colorado.  Leon Mosely spoke and he arrived late that evening.
