August 11, 2006--Gov. George Pataki (R-NY) stopped at the Iowa Soybean Association exhibit, which featured the "Bean Machine," a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle TDI as part of soy biodiesel.  (Below) Congressman Tom Latham (R-IA) happened to be in the area.
According to the Iowa Soybean Association:
"Iowa's soybean fields are becoming tomorrow's oil wells.  Soy Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from soybeans grown in Iowa.  It helps our environment because it burns cleaner and reduces harmful greenhouse gas emissions.  It's also helping accelerate Iowa's economy.  By 2010, nearly 14,000 new jobs related to the biodiesel industry are projected to be created – generating $1.3 billion of income for Iowa households."
