Speech notes. "I'm no stranger to union families;
I'm of a union family," Gilmore said. Gilmore devoted the opening
part of his speech to going through some biographical highlights.
He talked about his work on the National Commission on Homeland Security,
being governor during the 9/11 attacks, and the National Council on Readiness
and Preparedness (NCORP) . "When I'm president, the radios are going
to work," Gilmore said to applause. Gilmore addressed some
key issues facing the country, singling out security and freedom.
He touched on two IAFF priorities: indexing the Alternative Minimum Tax
and funding for SAFER. He spoke for a bit less than 15 1/2 minutes.
