October 14, 2005-- Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) spoke at the 2005 World Food Prize International Symposium on Nutrition at the Marriott Hotel in Des Moines.  Having battled obesity himself, Huckabee was able to address the theme of this year's symposium, "The Dual Global Challenges of Malnutrition and Obesity," from personal experience.

World Food Prize
Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, winner of the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize, founded the World Food Prize in 1986.  Sponsored by businessman and philanthropist John Ruan, the prize honors the "achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world."
