Ron Paul Campaign Hits Goals in Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA – Ron Paul finished fifth yesterday in the Iowa Straw poll, receiving over 1,300 votes. Dr. Paul beat six other candidates and won nearly 10 percent of the vote despite his relatively fresh campaign efforts in the Hawkeye State.

"The Straw Poll was a great opportunity to introduce Dr. Paul to Iowans across the state," said campaign manger Lew Moore. "As Dr. Paul's message of freedom peace and prosperity spreads, our success will continue to grow."

Dr. Paul has spent only eight days total campaigning in Iowa during this campaign cycle and opened his new Iowa headquarters in Des Moines on August 9th.  The Paul campaign appears to have spent substantially less money than other participating campaigns in the straw poll. Several candidates focused a great amount of energy on Iowa for the past several months, while the Paul campaign remains focused on building grassroots support all across the nation.

"Our campaign continues to build momentum every day," continued Moore. "As our grassfire movement grows stronger across the nation, our campaign remains in a unique position of strength on the ground unmatched by any other campaign."
