Sen. Hillary Clinton Wins TCU Endorsement for President

August 30, 2007—At a meeting of TCU’s Executive Council, International President Bob Scardelletti announced today that TCU has endorsed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) for President of the United States.  The action was taken following a ‘Conversation with the Candidates’ forum at which a number of candidates appeared during the IAM national staff conference in Orlando, Florida, which TCU officers attended.

“This forum confirmed my belief that the best candidate for our members and all of labor is Hillary Clinton,” said Scardelletti. “She gives American workers the best opportunity to have a friend in the White House and an advocate pushing their issues.”

President Scardelletti urges all TCU members to get behind Senator Clinton and to work hard for her election.  He is encouraging all TCU members and their families to become active in their communities as campaigners for Hillary.  (Read the letter sent to Sen. Clinton by President Scardelletti.)

While discussing this endorsement, International Vice President and National Legislative Director Bob Davis said, “Hillary is without a doubt the right candidate for our members.  She has earned our support by the positions she has taken for workers.  She is right on Amtrak, she is right on pensions and she is right on workers’ rights.”  He pointed out that Senator Clinton has a 93 percent favorable voting record on labor issues.

The IAM also endorsed Senator Clinton at this staff conference.
