February 26, 2006--NGA Chair Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) found a receptive audience in the form of characters from the Sesame Workshop. Sesame Workshop launched a "Healthy Habits for Life" initiative in May 2004 "to help preschoolers and their parents live healthier lives. During the NGA meeting a number of governors also taped PSAs with the Sesame Workshop characters. Huckabee joked that the experience was "a lot like being in the legislature."
