June 5, 2007--Another example of individual initiative. Ed Roczey
and Lu Ann Slay of Alpine, Calif. (San Diego area), have taken time off
from work to spread the word about U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter's presidential
campaign. Slay pointed to Hunter's stance for "closing the borders
and having people come through the front door." "He set up the border
fence, which is already working," she said. She also lauded Hunter
for "making us aware of how China is cheating [on trade].
Slay said she and Roczey said have already contributed the maximum amount
allowed to the campaign, and decided to do more. She estimated thy
have spent almost $12,000 in the last six weeks. They started in
April with a trip to Breezy Point in northern Minnesota; the idea was to
"go some place that no one knows him." They brought their sign, which
folds up to fit a two-foot suitcase. Subsequently they went to the
Laughlin River Run bike rally in Laughlin, NV (late April), the debate
at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, CA (May 3), the Kentucky Derby "at
the main entrance" (May 5), the South Carolina Republican debate in Columbia,
SC (May 15), and the Indianapolis 500 "at the main entrance" (May 27). |
