NH DEMS NAME CONVENTION DELEGATES

Clinton, Edwards, Obama secure NH delegates

(Concord)- The New Hampshire Democratic Party today named the delegates awarded to the top vote getters in Tuesday's record breaking presidential primary. A presidential primary candidate had to receive over 15% of the district-wide vote in order to be allocated any delegates.  The following people will represent New Hampshire at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

Clinton  1st Congressional District:  Chris Pappas, Emily Walsh, Russell Weatherspoon

Clinton 2nd Congressional District: Bette Lasky, Mike Atkins, Sylvia Larsen

Edwards 1st Congressional District:  Joshua Denton

Edwards 2nd Congressional District:  Deborah Bacon-Nelson

Obama 1st Congressional District: Paul O'Connor, Joanne Dowdell, Richard Komi

Obama 2nd Congressional District: Ann Kuster, Ned Helms, Carol Moore

"All New Hampshire Democrats should be proud of the diversity of the delegates selected as a result of Tuesdays historical primary. Each campaign did an excellent job in recruiting candidates for delegate and these fourteen delegates will represent us well in Denver. From first time activists to long time party leaders, we have a diverse delegation representing the ethnic, racial, age and orientation of New Hampshire Democrats," stated Ray Buckley, New Hamsphire Democratic Party Chair.

District-level delegates are divided equally between men and women who were chosen at December 11th's Caucus. Positions within each district are designated by presidential preference beginning with the highest vote-getting male candidate in the first congressional district and highest vote getting female candidate in the second congressional district.  This assignment of delegate positions, alternating by gender, continued with the next highest vote-getting presidential preference in descending order until each position has been assigned.

The next step will happen on April 26, 2008, when the district-level delegates will caucus to determine additional delegates.  For those wishing to run for delegate or alternate, the forms will be made available at www.nhdp.org by March 1, 2008 and the deadline is April 11, 2008 at 5:00 pm.
