March 18, 2006--Bob and Eileen Ehlers hosted a house party with Gov.
Bill Richardson at their home in Hooksett. Approximately 50 people
attended. Eileen Ehlers provided some observations:
I had the pleasure of introducing the Governor to the group,
and he gave a 20 minute presentation on his views on a wide range of topics
and then took questions from those in attendance. He spent one-on-one
time greeting each person individually, as well.
This event was our first as hosts for a candidate, and we'd gladly
do it again! It was an exciting opportunity to have our local voters
to meet a national candidate. In the past we have hosted activists
for campaign work and house parties for information about candidates.
I am a lifelong Democrat, having worked on campaigns for state and
federal candidates since my college days in Massachusetts. We became
very active during the past two Presidential elections and worked tirelessly
for Governor Dean, and then Senator Kerry. We also campaigned for
NH Governor John Lynch. I was a Democratic candidate for NH House
of Representatives from my solidly Republican town 2 years ago, and will
most likely run again, building on my strong showing during the 2004 race
and the mid-term mood across the country.
