DES MOINES –State Senator Bill Heckroth (D-9) today announced his support for Barack Obama’s campaign for President.  Heckroth completed his first term in the Iowa Statehouse this year and has been a resident of Waverly for 20 years.  Senator Heckroth’s endorsement comes after Senator Barack Obama made his 15th trip to Iowa this Saturday with stops in Senator Heckroth’s district including Oelwein.

“Barack Obama embodies a new kind of politics that draws people from all walks of life,” Senator Heckroth said.  “His message of hope and refusal to accept money from PACs or federal lobbyists prove to me he’ll bring much needed change to Washington, D.C.  Barack Obama is breaking fundraising records because his campaign is fueled by from the bottom up with grassroots support and I’m proud to give him my full support.”

“Senator Heckroth brings years of dedicated community service to our team,” Iowa State Director Paul Tewes said.  “Bill understands the importance of building a grassroots movement for change and we’re pleased to have his support as we work to spread Senator Obama’s message of hope and change throughout Iowa.”
