SEN. BAYH OUT OF TOUCH WITH IOWA VALUES

Bayh brings his ultra-liberal, tax and spend views to Iowa

DES MOINES - Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) is spending his weekend in Iowa hoping to drum up support for local Democrats.  But does he really reflect the values of Iowans with his ultra liberal voting record and his opposition to tax cuts vitally important to creating a healthy Iowa and National economy?

“Evan Bayh’s voting record shows that he consistently supports imposing taxes on Iowans,” said Republican Party of Iowa Executive Director Cullen Sheehan.  “He voted twice against tax cuts, against the marriage penalty tax and supports the estate tax.  Such taxes are burdensome on Iowa families and the estate tax directly hinders the success of second-generation Iowa farmers.  The fact that Senator Bayh supports these measures proves that he is out of touch with what the people of Iowa want. Iowans will see that Evan Bayh does not exhibit the values they want in a Presidential candidate and will turn their support elsewhere.”

Senator Evan Bayh’s record:

On May 11, 2006, Bayh Voted Against Extension Of $70 Billion In Tax Cuts Over A Five-Year Period. (H.R. 4297, CQ Vote #118: Adopted 54-44; R 51-3; D 3-40; I 0-1, 5/11/06, Bayh Voted Nay)
