DES MOINES – Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) visits Iowa this weekend to stump for a variety of Democratic candidates including Representative Leonard Boswell.  Following Dodd is a long tax and spend liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate.  At a time when fiscal responsibility is a major issue, it is clear that Dodd is out of touch with the values of Iowa.

“Iowans aren’t looking for candidates who spend their money frivolously.  By bringing in Sen. Chris Dodd to stump for them, Rep. Leonard Boswell and the other democratic candidates are showing that they support a tax and spend agenda,” said Republican Party of Iowa Executive Director Cullen Sheehan.

Dodd has consistently voted against billions of dollars in tax cuts and a repeal of the estate tax.  Both of these would have provided much needed financial relief to the hard working families of Iowa.  In addition, Dodd has voted to increase taxes.

“Iowa voters aren’t looking for more tax and spend liberals like Sen. Dodd and Congressman Boswell.  That’s why this November voters will be looking for a change,” concluded Sheehan.
