KERRY SUPPORTS NH PRIMARY – WE THINK…

(Concord) – Senator John Kerry visited New Hampshire over the weekend and strongly supported New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary position, as well as opposing placing additional caucuses between Iowa and New Hampshire.

“I was greatly encouraged to finally see a Democratic presidential candidate take a stand on protecting the New Hampshire primary. The only problem is that it’s John Kerry who frequently changes what he’s supporting, opposing, voting for, or voting against. Is this the best that Kathy Sullivan can do?” said Wayne Semprini, chairman of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee.

When Kerry visited the state in March, he had said that he supported the state’s primary but that if the Democratic National Committee wants “to put something in between, that’s fine by me.” Over the weekend, in typical Kerry-speak, he said “What I said was that if they do it, you have to live with it. But the point is, I don’t support it.”

“Apparently Kerry’s position makes perfect sense to Kathy Sullivan who believes it’s too early for presidential candidates to stick to one position or any position on New Hampshire’s primary status. Rest assured that this isn’t the first time or the last time that Kerry/Kathy-speak will be unclear to New Hampshire residents. Maybe we should just wait and see.” said Semprini.
