Third Party Presidential Candidate to Address Conservatives at Conference in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV- Constitution Party Presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin (www.Baldwin08.com) will urge attendees of this week’s Conservative Leadership Conference in Las Vegas to abandon the "no-longer conservative" Republican Party and vote for the only true conservative in the race. Baldwin, a broadcast journalist, Internet columnist, and Christian pastor, will address the Conservative Leadership Conference at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 20 on "Why Battered Voters Must Pack Their Bags And Leave Their Abusive Party".

The 4-day CLC conference is being held at the Tuscany Suites, (225 E. Flamingo Rd.) in Las Vegas from Thursday, September 18 through Sunday, September 21. More than 50 speakers will address the participants on such topics as opposition research, grassroots lobbying, government accountability, conservative bloggers, and media bias. Chuck Baldwin’s talk will focus on the principles that demand an end to blind party loyalty.

"Compare the voting records of Obama and McCain," Baldwin is expected to say. "The Republican and Democrat in the race for president are virtually identical on just about every issue that matters to conservatives, such as illegal immigration, gun control, privacy and federal spending."

"How much political headway have you made by voting for fake conservatives? The answer is none. Years of compromise on important policies and issues have opened the door to more concessions. The end result is that we get more of what we do not want. Voting for principle is never a wasted vote.

’I remind voters that back when slavery blighted our country the only party willing to confront that evil was a third party, the Republican party -- which offered Lincoln as a candidate. The conservative party at the time -- the Whigs -- got the heave-ho when folks finally realized only the upstart third party would make needed changes to abolish slavery. Now, it’s time for voters to do the same thing and vote in a third party president," Baldwin said.

At 9:45 a.m. on Friday, September 19, Constitution Party National Chairman Jim Clymer will debate with a Republican and Libertarian on "The Fight for the Right." The question for the debate will be:

"Should conservatives and libertarians vote for the presidential candidate most ideologically similar to themselves -- or for the candidate polling says is most likely to defeat Barack Obama?" Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform will moderate the debate.

"Republicans have a very compelling case to make about keeping Barack Obama out of office at all costs," said conference co-host Chuck Muth, "but third-party alternatives have compelling arguments to the contrary, as well. This debate will give all three an opportunity to make their cases to still-undecided conservative and libertarian voters."

The Conservative Leadership Conference is expected to draw hundreds of conservatives form the Western states and around the country to hear the "Who’s Who" in the conservative political movement. Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) will receive the Barry Goldwater award at the conference.

In addition to presidential candidate, Chuck Baldwin, former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr will address the Las Vegas conference. Barr is the presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party.

Last week, Baldwin appeared at a news conference in Washington, D.C. with former GOP presidential candidate, Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex.). Rep.
