New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson’s work leading the Democratic Governors Association for an exceptional two terms has given Democrats much to celebrate and has positioned the DGA to be competitive and win in every region of the country – in red states and blue – in 2007, 2008, and beyond.

• The DGA won 22 out of 38 races in 2005 and 2006.

• When Gov. Richardson became Chair, states with Democratic governors accounted for 207 electoral votes. In January, they will account for 295.

• Under Gov. Richardson’s leadership, the DGA raised an unprecedented $28 million, nearly 100 percent increase in revenue from just 4 years ago.

• The DGA allocated $18 million to candidates, a 50 percent increase from 4 years ago.

• Gov. Richardson personally campaigned for gubernatorial candidates in 15 states.

• Gov. Richardson helped to attract an unprecedented $5 million in individual contributions, a 5 fold increase over the previous two-year cycle.

• There are 105 individual donors to the DGA – 13 contributed $100,000 or more, including one $500,000 and two $250,000.

• There were 300 Internet contributions up from zero in 2004.
