Sworn in as Governor on Dec. 21, 2000; elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006.  Elected Lieutenant Governor in 1998.  Served two terms as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture 1990-98.  Served in the Texas House of Representatives.  Served in the U.S. Air Force, 1972-77.  B.S. in animal science from Texas A&M University, 1972.
