Oct. 1, 2005--In its fourth meeting, the DNC's Commission on Presidential
Nomination Timing and Scheduling reached a consensus to recommend
adding from two to four states in the early "pre-window" phase of the 2008
nominating calendar, with the exact details still to be worked out.
Iowa and New Hampshire will continue to be among the early states.
(Below) Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), a leading critic of the privileged
positions granted to Iowa and New Hampshire, squares off with commission
member Terry Shumaker, who is director of the New Hampshire Education Association. |
