"Voting our values, valuing our votes," July 15-20, 2006
July 19, 2006--Senators Edward Kennedy (D-MA), Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), and Barack Obama (D-IL) participate in a panel.  Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) had been scheduled to participate as well but instead delivered a speech on energy independence at the National Press Club.  Clinton warned of "forces at work that want to turn the clock back."  "We cannot take anything for granted," she stated.  She also spoke about the Count Every Vote Act, a bill she has introduced to require verifiable paper ballots, to ensure the right to vote for felons who have repaid their debt to society, and to make it easier for people to register and vote (S.450).
