Beltway Happenings
December 6, 2006--Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) was honored as the "Role Model of the Year" by Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG), a program to help at-risk youth graduate from high school and find quality jobs.  Huckabee praised then-Gov. and now Sen. George Voinovich (R-OH) for roping him and other governors into the program.  "There are a lot of kids coming up in this country who would have dropped out of high school, who would have ended up in countless dead end jobs that would have led them probably to a lifetime of government dependence, who instead have been empowered not to get on the government dole as adults, but more importantly to prosper, to succeed, to live the American dream like all of us hope to do."  (transcript and interview)
Huckabee talked with a JAG supporter as the organization's president Ken Smith looked on.
