Beltway Happenings
January 24 and 25, 2007--Senators Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Joe Biden (D-DE), Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) were among many speakers to address The United States Conference of Mayors' 75th Winter Meeting.  Over 250 mayors attended the meeting.

(Above) Conference President and Trenton, NJ Mayor Douglas Palmer took every opportunity to promote the Mayors' 10-Point Plan: Strong Cities, Strong Families, For a Strong America.  The plan calls for such items as creation of an energy and environmental block grant, restoration of the federal-local partnership on crime prevention, including the COPS program and local law enforcement block grants, and a doubling of community development block grant (CDBG) funding.

Tom Cochran has served as executive director of the USCM since 1987.
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels co-chairs the Mayors' Council on Climate Protection.

Lynn Cutler, senior policy advisor at Holland & Knight, is co-chair of the Advisory Board of the Business Council at the U.S. Conference of Mayors
