January 24, 2007--Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) spoke in support of H.R.
676, the United States National Health Insurance Act, at an event organized
by the California Nurses Association and the Physicians for a National
Health Program. The bill, introduced by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI),
would expand Medicare to provide that, "All individuals residing in the
United States (including any territory of the United States) are covered
under the USNHI Program entitling them to a universal, best quality standard
of care." This event came the day after President Bush delivered
his State of the Union Address, in which he proposed a tax deduction for
individuals purchasing health insurance. |
