February 27, 2007--Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM) found a receptive audience
at the Latino Leaders Network luncheon. Richardson spoke informally
to about 300 people at the luncheon. He recalled growing up between
two worlds, "Pancho" to some and "the gringo" to others. He drew
a laugh as he recounted how, when he told his mother he was running for
president, she responded, "President of what?" Richardson was optimistic,
noting that, "I started this race four weeks ago and I was at one percent."
"Check the polls today," he said. "I'm at eight percent. I'm
moving up." (Bottom) Latino Leaders Network founder Mickey Ibarra
