| May 16, 2007--Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) received the endorsement of Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) during an event at which the campaign launched Asian and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) for Hillary. Matsui will serve as national chair of AAPIs for Hillary. (press release) |

| One of the Clinton supporters at the event was Surjit S. Mann of Alexandria, Virginia. Recalling the leadership of Indira Gandhi in India, Mann said in a brief interview that, "This is the time that this country should produce a lady president." Pointing to Clinton's experience as First Lady, including her extensive travels overseas, Mann said Clinton "has the right qualifications" to be president. |
