July 14, 2007--Ralph Nader speaks at a rally outside the West End Library
after the DC City Council on July 10 passed emergency legislation to give
development rights to the space to EastBanc, Inc., a private developer.
Nader stated, "The press is entitled to ask the DC City Council, who actually
drafted this?" "What company," Nader asked, "What law firm actually
drafted or suggested language here, because the District insists on getting
what they call is a 'positive price' on this. That could be a dollar."
Nader said, "If this goes through, what other DC library branch will be
next?"
Later in the day Nader spoke at the 2007 Green Party Annual National
Meeting in Reading, Pennsylvania, where, according to news accounts, he
said he is considering a run for president in 2008. |
