September 24, 2007-- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) receives the
endorsement of Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN). Bayh said he has gotten to
know Clinton well through their service on the Armed Services Committee,
and he also pointed to the trip he and Sen. Clinton made to Iraq and Afghanistan
in January. He said Clinton has "the experience, the toughness, the
intellect--all those things together" and that she would be able to "hit
the ground running." Bayh seriously considered a presidential bid
of his own, and briefly formed an exploratory committee, but ruled out
a White House bid on Dec. 16, 2006. He is the ninth Senator to endorse
Clinton; 55 congressmen (plus the USVI delegate) have also endorsed her. |
