Sept. 10, 2008--Libertarian
Party nominee Bob Barr skipped the press conference organized by Rep.
Ron Paul, arguing that the event would not have helped advance his goal
of gaining as many votes as possible for the Libertarian ticket on
November 4. Instead he held his own press conference shortly
afterwards to make a "major announcement." Several partisans saw
this as arrogant and withdrew their support of Barr. Barr
announced that he had sent a letter to Rep. Paul inviting him to join
the Libertarian ticket as his running mate. (Barr said his
running mate Wayne Allyn Root had agree to step aside if Paul
accepted). |
