Dec. 8, 2008--Attorney
General-designate Eric Holder met with Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT),
chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in Leahy's Senate
office. Leahy later walked Holder over to meet with Sen. Arlen
Specter (R-PA), the ranking member of the Committee.
President-elect Obama announced his selection of Holder on Dec. 1; he
has thus far named seven Cabinet Secretaries. Article II, Section
2 of
the Constitution specifies that such
nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
