| Dec. 18, 2008--National guardsmen under the command of Major General Errol R. Schwartz (Commanding General, Joint Force Headquarters, District of Columbia National Guard) will augment the U.S. Park Police on the Mall and in perimeter areas and possibly at Metro stations. This is the eighth presidential inauguration Schwartz has worked on. |

| Acting Assistant Chief of the
U.S. Park Police Sal Lauro said
the Park Police are planning as if the entire national Mall will
potentially be filled with people. "The one thing that really
concerns me is the weather," Lauro stated. |
