Beltway Happenings
Jan. 10, 2009--The Presidential Inaugural Committee opened its official store at 625 E Street NW.  Memorabilia ranges from campaign-type items such as buttons and T-shirts to collectibles including glassware, china, and pewter.  One of the T-shirts has a design done exclusively for the PIC by Shepard Fairey.  A knitted blanket with the official Inaugural seal sells for $150.  For babies there are onesies ($15), and for children piggy banks ($10), yo-yos, and a wooden train toy from Vermont ($22).   All items for sale in the store are made in America, according to PIC spokesperson Brent Colburn.  The store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from Jan. 17-Jan. 21 will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m..  Additional items can be purchased from the PIC website; for example, a gold, silver and bronze medallion set sells for $3,000.  Proceeds from sales benefit the PIC.
