UPDATED FORUM INFORMATION

ABC NEWS AND ABC5/WOI-TV TO HOST PRESIDENTIAL FORUMS IN IOWA IN AUGUST 2007

Des Moines, IA/Washington, DC - ABC News and ABC5/WOI-TV will co-sponsor two live forums for presidential candidates in August 2007.  The forums will be moderated by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos with additional questioning from David Yepsen of The Des Moines Register.  They will air nationwide as special editions of This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

The Republican forum will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2007. The Democratic forum, co-sponsored with the Democratic Party of Iowa and sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee, will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2007.    Both forums will take place in Des Moines.

ABC News chief Washington correspondent and anchor of This Week, George Stephanopoulos, said, “I think it’s terrific that we are able to continue our On the Trail series in Iowa with two live programs from a state crucial to the election process. This is an historic election and I look forward to bringing our viewers the first and only Presidential candidate forums on Sunday morning television.”

ABC NEWS, AND ABC5/WOI-TV TO HOST PRESIDENTIAL FORUMS IN IOWA IN AUGUST 2007


Des Moines, IA/Washington, DC - ABC News will produce six live forums for presidential candidates, two in August 2007, two in October 2007, and two in January 2008.

The first two forums, co-sponsored by ABC News and ABC5/WOI-TV, will be in Iowa, moderated by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.  The forums will air nationwide as special editions of This Week with George Stephanopoulos.  The Republican forum will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2007.  The Democratic forum, co-sponsored by the Democratic Party of Iowa, will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2007.  Both forums will take place in Des Moines, Iowa.

The remaining four forums will be in Manchester, New Hampshire, two in October 2007 and two in January 2008.  In October George Stephanopoulos will moderate two town hall style debates that will air nationwide in special editions of This Week with George Stephanopoulos.  The January debates will be held the week before the New Hampshire Primary.  Detailed information on the dates, locations and formats of the New Hampshire debates will be forthcoming.
